What is Victoria Hotel known for?
Victoria Hotel is known as The Vic: a refurbished corner pub with booths, a dining room, a small beer garden, footy on weekends, and less theatre than Moon Dog.
You get off at Middle Footscray, about a minute on the house contact page. 43 Victoria Street is the corner fascia. You do not want Ballarat Road or Nicholson campus. Inside it is concrete floors, timber, a bar that still holds the old regulars. You came because Monday still has a pub on this street when Thyme and Littlefoot are dark, and because a first-year who typed Victoria into Maps should not land at the university. Victoria University is a campus. This is a corner glass. The beer garden is small and side-on. Light comes through it into the dining room. You sit because the bar still wants the old regulars and a Hop Nation pale in the same room.
What should you order at Victoria Hotel?
You should order a counter meal if dinner was the job, then a local pale if you wanted the bar Broadsheet already named.
Hop Nation pale if that tap is still the seller. A pot of Sample with footy tips if that freebie survived. Wine from the short list, including whatever van Klopper tap is on. A parma or a steak if dinner was the sitting. Beer-battered fish. Bangers and mash if you wanted the old card. Menus move. Ask. This kitchen is pub, not tasting.
Book dining. Walk in for the bar. Groups over 14 use the functions form. If you wanted live music, Westwood at 28 Napier is listed permanently closed. Station Hotel at 59 Napier is the French steak. If you wanted Whitehall beer and pizza, Hop Nation, closed Monday to Wednesday. If you wanted a wine plate, Thyme, also closed Monday and Tuesday.
Stay long enough to taste the plate on its own terms. Eat it here. A sealed parma walking to the river is how you waste a dining room. A Monday skip because an old directory said closed is how you miss an open door. The house site we fetched is open Monday.

How do you get to Victoria Hotel in Footscray?
You get to Victoria Hotel by getting off at Middle Footscray station and walking about a minute to 43 Victoria Street, a 3011 corner pub, not Victoria University and not Station Hotel on Napier.
Read 43. Footscray station is the bigger stop if you already got off there, with a longer walk. Gordon Street Bakery is 142 Gordon, south 3011, morning only, already dark when this pub opens. Street parking is short. Irving is the market. You do not need West Footscray station.
After dark, leave toward Barkly or Hopkins rather than inventing a mall shortcut from here. Joseph Road and the river sit north. Group up if you walk that way late. This pub is a local, not a reason to treat the underpass as a commute. Do not hunt the university. Station Hotel is Napier. Westwood is 28 Napier and listed closed. You walked Victoria Street on purpose.
