What is Hop Nation known for?
Hop Nation is known as the Whitehall brewery taproom: 19 taps, tanks in the room, Good Pizza from Alex Addams Williams, a river-edge factory you do not treat as a mall hop.
You walk from Footscray station toward the river, or you get off at Seddon, about ten minutes either way on the house find-us page. Unit 6, light box off Youlle Street. Inside it is a 10-metre roof, roller door, picnic benches, a mezzanine over tanks. Hambour and Gibson were winemakers, Paringa Estate and Yering Station, before they opened here in 2015. Production mostly moved to Mornington in 2020. The Footscray shell became the visitor room. Jones watched lime-green neon and new high-tops replace furniture the team had built themselves. That is the sitting. It is not Moon Dog on Hopkins and it is not a quiet wine bistro.

The trail is daylight. Pair those pins if the hours line up. Do not pretend Whitehall is a mall hop.
West Gate Tunnel works still sit in the 2023 frame. The door is still unit 6. Do not loiter in the lane. House asked. Dogs stay out. State law, food handled, not a vibe. You came for beer among tanks and a pizza that is not Slice Shop. A factory light box is the fascia. If you wanted a high-street pub, you walked the wrong edge of 3011.
What should you order at Hop Nation?
You should order Hop Nation beer if that is why you walked, then a Good Pizza round while the kitchen is still open.
Rattenhund if you wanted the creamy Lukr pils Jones named. Footscray Draft if the local name was the joke. Melbourne Black, J. Juice, The Heart if those were still on the shop. A tasting paddle if you wanted the range without a speech. Experimental sours if Site Fermentation was pouring. House says new beers about twice a month, first pours here. Happy hour Thursday and Friday 4pm to 6pm: selected core pints, wine, selected pizza rounds at a printed cheap. Trivia first Thursday, 7pm to 9pm, Question One Australia.
Good Pizza is long ferment, thin 13-inch rounds and thick pan. Broadsheet named vodka sauce and fior di latte, miso mushroom, pepperoni and honey. House now says no toppings off-limits, pineapple if you wanted the argument, a Little Taccas card for kids. This kitchen is not Slice Shop New York slices and it is not Harley and Rose 3012 pies. It lives in this room. If you wanted a 1am tap wall and a bull, Moon Dog on Hopkins. If you wanted BYO pizza on Nicholson, Mr West. If you wanted wine plates, Bar Thyme. Name the scale before you Uber.
Stay long enough to taste the pint on its own terms. Drink it here. A sealed growler walking the trail is honest only if you meant takeaway. After dark this edge is quieter than Barkly. You get to Hop Nation by walking about ten minutes from Footscray station or from Seddon toward Whitehall unit 6, a river-edge taproom, not a station pub and not Moon Dog on Hopkins.
Look for the light box off Youlle Street. Bike trail is 50 metres. Parking: Lyons Street via the carwash off Whitehall, house note. Do not treat Irving market deck as this car park. Footscray Community Arts is the other river pin. You do not need West Footscray station.
After dark this is a quieter industrial edge than Barkly. Group up. Headphones off. The trail is not an 11pm commute even if you biked it at 4pm. Rideshare pin on Whitehall at the light box, not a lane. Respect the neighbours. House asked twice.
