What is Mr West known for?
Mr West is known as the Nicholson drinks warehouse: downstairs bottle shop, upstairs loft and courtyard, picnic tables on the mall, no full kitchen.
You walk from Footscray station onto Nicholson. 106 is the two-storey fascia. 101A is Slice Shop, pizza, a different door. You want the bar that also sells bottles. Inside it is nerdy on purpose. Broadsheet called it obsessive about skin-contact, wild-fermented Belgian beer, obscure mezcal, house non-alc, 24 taps pouring beer, cider, wine and cocktails. Students and families on the picnic tables. Comfy booths. Upstairs courtyard that catches afternoon sun. House bookings copy still boasts 150 seats and an intimate feel. Both can be true on a Tuesday. English is the working language. This is not Josephine's maze. This is not Thyme. This is Nicholson, which means you still walk out to Barkly or Hopkins after dark.

Sitting on the picnic tables is a daylight and early-evening job. Leaving at 1am is a Barkly or Hopkins walk, not a mall wander.
You came because the bottle shop and the bar are the same building with two clocks, and because a Monday pizza walk dies twice if Slice Shop is dark too. Since 2017 this mall door has been the drinks nerd hangout Broadsheet still names. It is still not a restaurant, even when the courtyard is full.
What should you order at Mr West?
You should order a tap pour if that is why you walked, then pizza from Slice Shop if you wanted food.
Taps first: beer, cider, wine, cocktails on the Broadsheet 24. The bar page now says 30 taps. Ask. Natural wine and independent spirits if the bottle shop was the point. House still sells over 300 speciality spirits and a seasonal cocktail list. A snack board if you did not walk food in: cheese, charcuterie, a ploughman's on Broadsheet's 2025 card. Non-alc if that was the sitting. Do not expect steaks. The house snack list is not Station Hotel.
Slice Shop pizza if you booked, or walk it in. Bookings get 15 percent off Slice Shop on the house page, excluding existing promotions. Love Your West still says Slice Shop will deliver to the table. Confirm. Tuesday the pizza shop has been closed on older cards while Mr West is open. Check both glasses before you plan the walk-in pie. If you wanted a bistro plate, Bar Thyme. If you wanted a maze and bus seats, Josephine. If you wanted a bull, Moon Dog. If Slice Shop is closed Monday, this bar is closed too.
Stay long enough to taste the pour on its own terms. Drink it here. A sealed bottle walking the mall is honest only if you meant the shop. A 2pm Tuesday arrival gets the bottle shop, not the loft pour. The bar clock starts at 4pm weeknights.

Walk-in. Book groups, especially weekend. Over 20 by email. The 15 percent Slice Shop deal is a booking perk, not a walk-up coupon. Friday and Saturday 1am is late for Nicholson. Build the walk home into the last round. Last trains beat a closed bottle shop argument at 12:50am. Cards are normal. Public holidays shuffle the mall. A Monday booking is how you stand at a dark glass.
How do you get to Mr West in Footscray?
You get to Mr West by walking from Footscray station along Nicholson to 106, a mall bar, not Slice Shop at 101A and not Misfits at 30 Chambers.
Read 106. Slice Shop is across the way. Misfits is upstairs off the mall, the music room if that door is still lit. Albert Street if you drove for the plaza. Irving is the market. After dark, leave via Barkly or Hopkins. Do not make the mall the commute. You do not need West Footscray station.
Rideshare pin on Barkly or Hopkins even if it adds a minute. Paisley is the shortcut people already skip. Bottle shop hours are the afternoon job. Bar hours are the night. Do not arrive at 2pm on a Tuesday expecting the loft pour.
