What is Back Alley Sally's known for?
Back Alley Sally's is known as the Yewers warehouse bar: unmarked stairs, industrial bones, pizza ordered from downstairs, a late room that dies before Sunday midnight.
You walk from Footscray station toward Moreland and the river, then Yewers. Level 1 is the bar. Ground is Slice Girls pizza. Harry and Larry is the general store in the same shell. You want the upstairs glass Time Out already called industrial, upcycled junk, a nanna trolley over a booth, cocktails in red Solo cups. Broadsheet, 31 March 2016, sat grungy taps, Footscray Ale, Two Birds, Sunshine Lager, pizza from Slice Girls, the same stack 1000 Pound Bend had in the city. City Lane, 21 June 2017, added standing room, booths, student prices, rotating Aussie and Kiwi wine on tap. That is the origin. The neon still says BACK ALLEY SALLY'S.

Community Arts is 45 Moreland. Slice Shop is 101A Nicholson. Different pizza. Different pin. Do not book the mall slice and walk Yewers.
What should you order at Back Alley Sally's?
You should order a tap schooner if the downstairs hours still hold the $8 special, then a Slice Girls pizza if dinner was the job.
Monday to Friday 1pm to 5pm, $8 schooners on the house board, a downstairs sitting more than a midnight one. Friday 4:30pm to 6:30pm: $20 two-for-one espresso martini, $15 cocktails, $8 Tatachilla and tap schooners. Friday night the upstairs board sells $19 parmas eight ways, vegan and low-gluten, dine-in, no variations, gluten-free extra. Time Out liked Baby Slice and Viva Forever downstairs. House testimonials still push a Cray Cray pizza. Ask. Specials move.
Food is the warehouse, not a secret kitchen upstairs. Slice Girls West is ground floor. Harry and Larry is coffee, groceries, bottle shop. None of those three have their own directory pin yet. If you wanted a scored wine set, book Thyme. If you wanted a 1am maze, Josephine. If you wanted a music bill, Misfits only if that glass is still lit. Sally's is the laneway warehouse that stayed.
Stay long enough to eat the pizza here. A sealed box walking to the river is how you waste a booth. Book if the garden or the run of venue mattered. A Sunday upstairs midnight is not on the house clock. Downstairs Sunday dies at 5pm. Do not invent a late sitting because Time Out still prints 4 to 10.

No Sunday upstairs line. Time Out's 4pm-10pm card is 2016. Broadsheet matches that old close. We cite the house clock and we put 2016 in the hours note. The weekly board we fetched puts karaoke under Wednesday, 8pm to 11pm, and Thursday trivia by Quizmeisters with a $100 and $50 tab. Friday live music, Saturday DJ, 8pm to 11pm. Confirm the board. Cards are normal. Holidays add ten percent.

You get to Back Alley Sally's by walking from Footscray station toward Moreland and the river, then Yewers to Level 1, a warehouse bar, not Slice Shop on Nicholson and not Misfits on Chambers.
Read Level 1, 4 Yewers. Slice Girls is the ground-floor pizza. Harry and Larry is the store. Unmarked stairs in the old printing warehouse. Community Arts is 45 Moreland. Hop Nation is Whitehall, a longer river walk. After dark, Moreland back to the station or out to Hopkins is the brighter walk. Yewers is a lane. Do not treat it as the rideshare pin.
Joseph Road and the river can feel calmer and darker. Group up. The trail is not an 11pm commute. If you wanted Chambers, that is mall side, 30, a different upstairs, send-off billed. If you wanted 101A, that is Slice Shop. This door is 4 Yewers, Level 1.
