What people get wrong

9/63-67 Nicholson, not Irving, not the 80 Hopkins pin. Google Maps stamps the pin permanently closed. Directories still list Shop 9. The July 2026 Nicholson fire was a Little Africa fashion boutique, not this complex. We last walked this on 2026-09-20. Hours move with the week. Checking the shopfront keeps the night easy.

What is Green Valley and Co known for?

Green Valley and Co is known as the leftover grocer on the old Little Saigon block, Shop 9 at 9/63-67 Nicholson Street, the pantry people still hunt when they say Little Saigon and mean fish sauce rather than a petition. You walk out of Footscray station and take Nicholson, not Irving. Irving is the live produce hall. This block is the one Time Out, 4 October 2012, sent you toward with a trolley as a shield: nannas, crab tanks, cheap meat, sugarcane juice, bean sprouts by the sack. That indoor market burned on 13 December 2016. The Age put the start in the refrigeration above a cool room shortly after 6am. You are not here for the hole. You are here because a 3011 kitchen still needs Vietnamese mint, and Coles will sell you the wrong coriander and call it a shop.

Local Business Guide and NusaList still print Green Valley and Co at Shop 9, phone (03) 9687 4009. Google Maps stamps the pin permanently closed and offers Street View of a leftover strip: boarded neighbours, the burned 63-67 hall, no Green Valley wordmark. That fight is the door. Walk it. Lauren Wambach's Footscray Food Blog, 11 March 2014, thanked Tony, Hieu and Kim from Shop 9 at Little Saigon market for the Rickshaw Run. That is a name on a stall two years before the fire, not a 2026 owner card. Vietnamese and English still work on this strip. Point at the herb if the word fails.

The Age quoted Jieh-Yung Lo on the childhood weekend shop: the only place his family could buy Vietnamese mint leaves. Leonie Bessant told Westsider in May 2025 the hall was the most hardcore Asian market in Melbourne, basically her corner shop. Those stalls are gone. The leftover grocer is what directories kept on this block after that corner shop burned. The 63-67 site is still empty in that 2025 petition. You came for an aisle, not a planning argument.

What should you buy at Green Valley and Co?

Buy the Vietnamese pantry the hall used to scatter across thirty stalls: rice, fish sauce, rice paper, noodles, the herb bunch a pho night actually uses, the household aisle a 3011 kitchen runs through weekly. If the glass is lit, that is the bag. Directories file this as a supermarket and grocer, not a butcher and not a fish tank. Do not arrive expecting Time Out's live crabs or Wambach's sugarcane wringer on Byron. Those belonged to the indoor market. This remaining door is dry goods and the herb job, if it is still a door.

You work the aisle the way this suburb always worked a grocer. Vietnamese first if you have it. English if you do not. Point. Smell the sawtooth. Do not perform a tasting-note speech to a till that is packing rice. Cash still helps on a strip that never worshipped a tap-and-go sermon. Card if they take it. There are no published reviews of this Shop 9 to steal a favourite line from. People did not come here to write Yelp. They came to fill a bag and leave.

If you needed fish on ice in volume, wait for Irving, Tuesday to Saturday, or walk D&K on Leeds for tanks. Phuoc Thinh is the 75 Nicholson butcher pin. Tra Vinh is across Nicholson for a bowl. Co Thu Quan left this complex after the fire and sits on Droop now. None of those counters will sell you the kilo of coriander this listing is for. Sequence the bag. Sunday the Irving hall is locked. Plaza Coles on Albert is the grocery that does not need a legend. If this glass is dark, do not walk into the empty hall and call it a shop.

What are Green Valley hours and the door?

Quoted hours disagree, Google Maps stamps the pin permanently closed, and the live clock is the glass plus (03) 9687 4009. TimeToOpen often prints Monday to Friday 7am to 8pm and Saturday to Sunday 8am to 9pm. NusaList prints weekdays 7:30am to 7:30pm and skips the weekend. Last walked 2026-09-17. The widget is not the shutter.

Park at Little Saigon Plaza, 47 Byron Street, entry via Utility Lane. Ace Parking prints Sunday to Wednesday 5am to 11pm, Thursday to Saturday 5am to midnight, first two hours free on their card, height 2.2 metres. Irving is the market deck. Albert is the plaza. Mixing those three is how you walk twenty minutes with bags and then write a review of coriander that never had a chance. A parking ticket is not a grocer.

Sunday may still be the only reason this pin exists in a visitor's head. Directories sometimes print a weekend clock. NusaList does not. Maps says closed. Call. Walk the glass. The July 2026 Nicholson fire that took a Little Africa fashion boutique was a different strip. Do not mash two fires into one shutter.

How do you get to Green Valley and Co in Footscray?

Walk out of Footscray station toward Nicholson and keep going to the 63-67 block. Shop 9. Not Hopkins as the destination, even if someone pinned Little Saigon at 80 Hopkins. That pin is the old street face of a precinct whose indoor market sat behind it. Not Paisley. Not Albert. The walk is short and the mistake is always the building, never the kilometre.

If you drove, Utility Lane off Byron is this complex. You do not need a car from the station. Name the building before you turn in: Irving, Albert and Byron are three decks for three jobs. Do not keep fish sauce in a hot boot while you also attempt the Irving hall on a Sunday. The hall will be locked. You will be angry at the wrong door.

After dark, leave via Barkly or Hopkins. The empty hall is not a night shortcut. The mall is the block this directory tells you to skip. Tra Vinh across the street is a bowl if you already walked here and the grocer glass is dark. That is dinner, not a substitute aisle.

What do people mix up about Green Valley and Co?

They send a trolley to the burned indoor market, or they skip Shop 9 because Google stamped the pin closed, and they never check which of those two mistakes they just made.
