What is Footscray Hospital known for?
Footscray Hospital is known as the new Ballarat Road campus: a 24-hour adult ED on Geelong Road, inpatient towers, a teaching hospital that replaced Gordon Street on 18 February 2026.
You arrive on Ballarat Road or Geelong Road and you read the signs before you leave the car. 89 is the Western Health contact number. This directory keeps 89-99 as the campus face. ED is signed at 20 Geelong Road, with a vehicle drop-off zone in front of that entrance. Inside it is acute general medicine and surgery, intensive and coronary care, mental health and the related clinics the campus page still names. Interpreters exist if you ask the switchboard. English is the working desk language. Do not assume the suburb will translate you.

What should you bring to Footscray Hospital?

Read 89 and 20. Both roads feed the deck. After dark this is a hospital edge next to VU Park. Leave toward Ballarat Road or Geelong Road lights, not a river shortcut. VU student bays are a different boom. Do not park there and wander.
