What people get wrong

French Street, not Paisley and not Nicholson. No appointment necessary is the site line. Closed Sunday. We last walked this on 2026-09-25. Hours move with the week. Checking the shopfront keeps the night easy.

What is Kultured Barbershop known for?

You turn off Barkly onto French Street and the Afrobeats leak before you see the number. Kultured is relationship barbering for all ages and genders: kids cuts, fades, women textured cuts, clipper work that does not treat African hair as a special order. House copy: no appointment necessary.

The gallery mixes fades and braids. That is craft range, not a promise that every walk-in is a six-hour install. Medra-Genet at 117 and Roha at 95 own the long braid day. This door owns the Saturday kid fade and the textured scissor cut.

Studio Zero on Joseph Road is the river-precinct precision chair. Sonder on Leeds is tattoo first. Delhicuts is 3012 Indian salon. Four other hair jobs. French Street is this one.

How do you book, and what do you bring?

Walk in, or call 0466 075 686. Saturday still queues. Bring the child, a photo of the fade, and payment. Walk-in does not mean zero wait.

Closed Sunday. Monday opens at 12pm. Friday and Saturday 10am-6pm. Trust kulturedbarbers.com.au over a maps widget.

If the job is box braids, do not sit here hoping. Salon Africa, Afriqoz, Roha and Medra-Genet are the braid rooms. Say the age when a child sits so the chair is set up.

Hours and which door

The photograph is the house chair with Kultured wall signage. It is this French Street room. It is not Studio Zero and not Sonder.

How do you get to Kultured Barbershop?

Footscray station, Barkly, then the French Street turn. Look for 30. After dark return via Barkly, not a dark side street.

French Street is easy to overshoot if you stay on the food strip. Number 30 is the tell. The library is Paisley. This barber is not the library.

Ras Dashen is further along Barkly if you wanted injera after. Sequence the plate and the fade. Do not eat tomato sauce into a fresh shape-up.

What do people mix up about Kultured Barbershop?

They treat every African hair search as Paisley braids, or they send a Joseph Road scissor-cut client here, or they walk in Sunday.
